Insurance
Q: Are Riese & Muller e-bikes road legal?
Answer
Yes, as we only sell pedal-assist e-bikes they are all road legal bikes. However, our high speed (HS) bikes are treated differently as the motor assists over 15.5mph. This means they are classed as mopeds (L1e-B), meaning they need to be registered with the DVLA (have a number plate fitted). The bike must be taxed (free due to no emissions), and a helmet always worn. A CBT license is also required, and a minimum of third-party road risk insurance is also needed.
Q: Do I need to insure my e-bike?
Answer
You do not need insurance; however, we would advise you to be covered against theft, damage and injury. For further information about Insurance follow this link.
Q: How do I register my Riese & Muller e-bike for the Premium Guarantee?
Answer
- Register for the My Bike Service platform by Riese & Müller here and activate your My Bike Account. In the My Bike Service platform you can always access all the information about your bike and administrate your personal data and services at any time.
- Now you can easily add your Riese & Müller bike to your My Bike account, thereby registering it for the premium guarantee right after the purchase.
Q: Where and how can I get my e-bike insured (including high speed)?
Answer
There are several e-bike insurers to choose from all offering different packages and rates. For further information about the different insurance, follow this link.
Miscellaneous
Q: How far can I go on one charge?
Answer
First off, this depends on several variants. These include, weight, speed, battery capacity, terrain and motor mode being used. Since Riese & Muller e-bike’s use Bosch components for their e-bike’s they offer some of the best range for e-bikes on the market, with the new single 750Wh battery offering a range of 70 miles! Then if you want to have a combined 1250Wh of Dual Battery power, you can get a range of up to 120 miles!
Q: How fast can I go on your e-bikes?
Answer
Electrically assisted pedal cycles can propel someone up to 15.5mph legally, then high speed bikes can go up to 28mph, however they require further requirements to be road legal. See our Insurance section for further details.
Q: How long do batteries take to charge?
Answer
Charging times really vary with different batteries, however all the batteries on offer use lithium-ion technology. To see a comparison of all the battery charging times, you can visit the Riese & Muller page.

We will match within 7 days of receipt of purchase; however, we cannot price match products for orders using Cycle Schemes or an insurance voucher. Servicing and Aftercare
Q: Do I need to service my e-bike?
Answer
Absolutely yes! To maintain the quality and safety of your e-bike, you need to make sure it is looked after, and annual services will make sure this is the case. Unlike a traditional bicycle, e-bikes have many more components which are all interlinked, meaning more care is needed to keep them all in tip-top shape. For those who have purchased a Riese & Muller bike from us we offer a FREE first service after 240 miles or 3 months, whichever comes soonest. For further information on Servicing and the packages we offer, follow this link.
Q: How and where do I book a service for my e-bike?
Answer
Give us a call on 01491 628 711 and we can discuss a time and package that suits you and your e-bike, making sure it stays in the best shape possible for the longest time possible.
Q: How do I look after the batteries?
Answer
Try to charge and store at room temperature between 10° and 20°C, and do not leave removed batteries exposed to direct sunlight or rain in temperatures below 10°C.
Make sure to charge the battery to around 70% before storing for a lengthy period, then before using it again make sure to charge it completely.
Q: What if I don’t live locally?
Answer
Most bike shops can carry out basic repairs and supply any additional spares if needed, however anything to do with the Bosch components, will need to be looked at by ourselves, or your nearest available expert. You can find your nearest Bosch expert here - BOSCH Dealer Search.
Q: What warranty do I get with my new Riese & Muller e-bike?
Answer
Riese & Muller offer a warranty of 2 years from the point of sale, 5 years on the frame or rear swing arm from sale and warrant that the battery still has more than 60% after two years or 500 full charge cycles (whichever happens first) from the date of sale.
